IOBC: Parasitic wasp (aphidius rhopalosiphi)

The IOBC: Parasitic wasp test assesses the effect of a substance on acute mortality and reproductive capacity of a parasitic wasp species. For 48 hours, adult wasps are exposed to the test substance dried onto glass plates or leaves, and mortality is assessed. Surviving females are removed and individually confined to untreated aphid-infested plants for 24 hours. After 10–12 days, reproductive capacity is assessed from the number of ‘mummies’ developed from parasitized aphids.
