OECD 227: Terrestrial plant test (vegetative vigor test)

The OCED 227: Terrestrial Plant Test: Vegetative Vigor Test assesses how exposing plants to above-ground general chemicals, biocides, and crop-protection products affects vegetative vigor. The test involves spraying plants (usually at the 2- to 4- true leaf stage) with a test substance and comparing with control plants at various time intervals over the next 21-28 days for effects on vigour and growth. It also includes measurements of surviving plant biomass, visible detrimental effects, visible phytotoxicity and mortality. This test is used to determine the dose-response curve or used as a limit test for a single concentration/rate as per study aims.
